Overview

Detroit's flagship grant: up to $25,000 toward your down payment and closing costs, forgiven, not repaid.

Detailed requirements

Household income at or below 80% of Area Median Income for the City of Detroit. Detroit resident for the previous 12 months, or evidence of losing a Detroit home to property-tax foreclosure between 2010 and 2016. No marketable interest in property in the last 3 years. Minimum $1,000 buyer contribution. Housing expense ratio no more than 35%. Home must be in Detroit and be the primary residence. HUD-approved homebuyer education required. Priority for residents affected by the August 2023 flooding.

Buyer contributes at least $1,000. Housing expense ratio capped at 35%. Assistance cannot exceed 50% of purchase price + costs. Funded by CDBG / CDBG-DR; rounds open and close as funds allow.
